Domaine du claux

The Estate

Acquired in 1996, Domaine du Claux has developed step by step through careful renovation and restructuring of its vineyard. Located in Lacoste, in the heart of the Luberon in the southern Rhône Valley of France, the estate flourishes in a landscape where nature, history and the Provençal art of living come together in harmony. Overlooked by the ruins of the Château of the Marquis de Sade, the picturesque village of Lacoste embodies all the richness and charm of Provence.

Today, the estate covers 38 hectares of vines, including 29 hectares in AOP Luberon and 9 hectares in AOP Ventoux, separated by the Calavon River. Certified organic since 2024, it produces wines that reflect the purity of the Luberon and the delicacy of its environment, which we help preserve through the protection of the Luberon Eagle. The AOP Luberon appellation has been recognised since 1988.

Harvesting is carried out mechanically using the latest-generation technology, combining efficiency and gentle handling to preserve the integrity and aromatic potential of the grapes. The grapes are then transported to the Borélis winery in Bonnieux, where they are vinified with the greatest care. Part of the production is vinified separately, specifically for our Domaine du Claux cuvées.

The Terroir

Domaine du Claux is rooted in an exceptional terroir shaped by clay-limestone soils rich in minerals. These relatively well-drained soils bring structure and tension, while the lighter sandy soils encourage freshness and delicacy.

The orientation of the slopes allows the vines to capture the Luberon sunshine throughout the day while benefiting from cooling breezes. The temperature differences between day and night allow the grapes to ripen slowly and optimally.

This diversity of soils and exposures gives the estate a mosaic of plots, each fully expressing the unique characteristics of Luberon wines. Reds, rosés and whites develop finesse, elegance and a wide range of aromatic expressions.
